ACCREDITATION OF NEW INSTITUTES BY PULMONARY HYPERTENSION AMERICAN ASSOCIATION

American Association of Pulmonary Hypertension (PHA), has recently announced the accreditation of nine new institutions that develop programs for patients with pulmonary hypertension. Giving of this status recognizes the advantage and specialization in the treatment of patients with this diagnosis and expands the list of 26 assisting centers throughout the country.

Association of pulmonary hypertension was created in order to improve the quality of medical services and attitude to patients suffering from a rare disease that causes high blood pressure in the lungs and violations in the work of the heart. This disease is called pulmonary hypertension. The Association supports programs that improve diagnosis of the disease, because the sooner the diagnosis is set, the better will be the results of treatment. Apart from this  that the programs that teach how to live with the disease and how to manage it are extremely important. The recently accredited centers are:

Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin state – TMiluoki.

Johns Hopkins`s Program “Pulmonary Hypertension” – Baltimore, Maryland.

The first six centers for accreditation were announced in October 2014, and members of the association believe that such centers will be able to intensify cooperation between the Association of Pulmonary Hypertension and the society as a whole towards clinical care and research.

The Association will also support the development of a new registry of patients who will be able to diagnose with a help of diagnostic protocol.

The leading US institution, focused on prevention, research, and promotion of pulmonary hypertension is “Maryland”, the work of this institution on the study of pulmonary hypertension continues for over the past 25 years and has resulted in numerous achievements in helping such  category of patients. In particular, they have developed the full list of nutrition and the medication protocol for the category of patients who are diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. The association believes that there is still much to do for such persons to feel better.  However, The most important thing in this case is making diagnosis because very often patients often have to visit several different doctors before they make the diagnosis correctly, and as a result the time is lost and the disease starts to progress. Very often it happens that the late diagnosis leads to premature death.

American Association of Pulmonary Hypertension believes that due to the accreditation the quality of life of patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension will be better.
