MOVE MORE – LIVE LONGER!
The researchers from Brazil and the UK have discovered one more reason to get up and move. Their findings are published in the American journal “Physiology of Heart and Circulation”, namely in the article of Dr. J. Antonio Natalie from the Federal University de Viçosa (Brazil) it is said that the team of scientists observed the experimental rats, identifying how moderate exercise can affect the work of heart in heart failure, caused by pulmonary hypertension.
“Usually, physical activity is recommended to everyone, but in many diseases such physical exercises are contraindicated. It concerns the patients with disorders of cardiovascular system, particularly those who have pulmonary hypertension, “- says Dr. Natalie. “Doctors do not recommend physical exercises to such category of patients because blood flow to the lungs dusignificantly increases during exercises, and it can be danger for the life of the patient. However, the experiment with experimental rats showed that moderate physical activity is good for the body, “- said the scientist.
The experiment lied in dividing the rats into two groups. A running wheel was put to the cage of one group, and another group of animals kept a sedentary way of life. In those rats that had access to the “treadmill” and which “ were willing to go in for sport” lifetime was much higher. “Thus we can state that to people with stable pulmonary hypertension, moderate exercise will be useful” – adds Dr. J. Antonio Natalie.
