On May 7, 2015 in the press center of ZIK the  players of FC “Karpaty” showed their support for patients with pulmonary hypertension, namely on Sunday on May 10 during a football game against Odessa “Chernomorets” football players of FC “Karpaty” will  wear special T-shirts to draw attention of fans to the rare disease – pulmonary hypertension. It is important to point out that  in Lviv region there are 23 patients suffering from PH.

       The medical point of view on the problem of PH was expressed by the head of Radiodiagnostics Department of Danylo halytskyi LvivNationalMedicalUniversity, the Professor Yuriy Ivaniv, emphasizing on the fact that patients with pulmonary hypertension have got constant shortness of breath, often, even when being at rest.

      “Blood is always not enough saturated with oxygen. This happens as a result of narrowing small vessels that carry blood to the air vesicles, where the exchange is taking place, some of the vessels become hard and even grow. The right side of the heart has to pump blood to the lungs with a huge pressure to push blood through sharply narrowed blood vessels, “- said the professor.

      He noted that people suffering from this disease can be recognized in the street by a dark-colored lips,  purple glow on face, dark nails. They always breathe with a certain load.

      Such patients need help because their treatment is very expensive. Ukraine has not provided special programs for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. So charities help them. It is therefore important to draw the attention of many people with this disease.

       FC “Karpaty” decided to help PH diseased, wearing shirts that had been worked out the European Association of Pulmonary Hypertension. As we know, each year the design of T-shirts changes. This year, the developers have placed the inscription “Breath success.” on them. For patients with hypertension every breath is success. On the T-shirts apart from the main logo at front side, there will be logos of FC “Karpaty, the Charitable Foundation of “Sister Dalila” and pharmaceutical companies that support the Day of Pulmonary Hypertension worldwide.

      “This event will be a good advertisement that will  help patients with pulmonary hypertension,” – said the player of FC “Karpaty” Igor Khudobyak.

      We know that many football fans will come to the game and for most of them it will be the first time they will heard about the disease of PH. Maybe, later, they will join the rescue of patient with pulmonary hypertension.
