On February 24, 2015 Lviv City Charitable Foundation of “Sister Dalila” Ran the Flasmob to the Rare Disease Day

Lviv City charitable Foundation of “Sister Dalila expresses sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organization and running of children`s flashmob to the Rare Disease Day which took place on the 24th of February 2015 near the walls of Lviv City Council.  Children formed the logo of the official symbol of the Rare Disease Day the author of which is EURODIS – European Organization for Rare Diseases. The goal of flashmob was to raise awareness of the society of rare diseases.

First and foremost, we would like to thank those 120 schoolchildren who raised their hands, danced and ran the balloons in the sky. Children were chanting a new slogan – “Cork to a cork, gather you and I, together we`ll save lives.” These lines are the motto of a new social project called “The Cork of  Life”, which started during the flashmob. So our volunteers from the social project of the Club of Business Community called “Ticket to Success”  handed out fliers  to Lviv residents. Thank you to the volunteers for your good deed.

So, starting from March 2015 Lviv citizens will be collecting plastic corks from water, juice, yogurt, kefir and will be putting them into special containers that will be placed at schools, hospitals, regional administrations, in cafes and at other institutions. Plastic corks will be handed over to companies that will recycle plastic, for which companies will transfer funds to LCCF of  “Sister Dalila” for the purchase of essential medicines to patients with pulmonary hypertension. Thanks to you, children, and all concerned people, we believe that not only one life will be saved.

We are especially grateful to Lviv city center of social services for families, children and youth represented by its director – Oksana Rubai. We are thankful to Frankivsk Department of Social Work of Lviv city center of social services for families, children and youth, represented by its director Svitlana Hrytsiv, as they were proponents of the permanent project that will not only support patients with pulmonary hypertension, but also will contribute to the solution of  one of the ecological problems – reduction of environmental pollution and possible infectious diseases that can be transmitted by household conditions, namely through reuse of plastic bottles.

We are  sincerely thankful to Halytskiy District Department of Education, to the Department of Humanitarian Policy of Lviv City Council, who helped to organize and encourage pupils to participate in this event. We are also appreciative to parents of children who didn`t ignore the teachers` request and let the children  take part  in a flash mob, which was skillfully run by Ms. Halyna the choreographer. Thank you for not an easy work you are doing for patients with rare diseases.

Our flash mob was visited by Victoria, our patient  diseased with pulmonary hypertension. She has repeatedly stressed that is  impossible to  fight against a rare disease alone and  she added that it is very important to feel the support of all concerned people. Thank you Victoria that you inspire us to fight for life!

We are very much obliged to  “T.V.Fruit” , the  producer «Galicia» juices  that we handed to all passers-by, and they in turn made their donations into the box of LCCF of  “Sister Dalila” for patients with pulmonary hypertension. 320 UAH have been raised from boxes and have been  transferred to the account of LCCF of “Sister Dalila.”

Thanks to the children’s entertainment center «SkyPark», their famous “sun” was present at our flash mob which was entertaining children. We are grateful to “sun” for his presence, as the real sun has hidden in the sky because of cloudy weather .

LCCF of “Sister Dalila” expresses a handful of  thanks to all the media that to their best spread the information about the Rare Disease Day  in the Internet network and on television.

Thank you, Sisters Catechists of St. Anna`s Church for your prayer.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Day of Rare Diseases. You have contributed to the lives of people with rare diseases. Let`s continue helping “day by day, hand in hand. From the the words of EURODIOS video  from which we started our flashmob, we understand that: “In order to improve the lives of people living with rare diseases, an extra hand could be useful, a a econd hand could be precious, a third could be indispensable, a  fourth could be vital. “
