Lviv hosted Briefing
May 5, 2017 Lviv hosted Briefing “Donation from deceased persons in Ukraine” within World PH Day.
People all over the world save lives every day through organ transplantation operating system. Every day in Ukraine 9 patients die because of lack of transplantation. Each year the budget of Ukraine allocates more than 300.00 million. USD to pay for transplantations abroad. Whereas, no allocations are maid for the development of transplantation in Ukraine.
Topicality of this issue raises the need of discussion and decision-making by all stakeholders.
Participation in the briefing took the following:
– Prist Andrii Login (Hospital Administrator of CF Hospital of Andrii Sheptytsky);
– Konstantin Rudenko (Chief Specialist of Department of Health of Ukraine);
– Dmytro Sherembey (Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV / AIDS);
– Juan Fuertes (board member of the European Association of pulmonary hypertension, manager of international projects of the European Association of pulmonary hypertension, a member of the European Foundation of the lungs, Member of the European Forum of patients).
Brief comments on each of the participants:
– Konstantin Rudenko: “Surgeons are ready to transplant heart even tomorrow. There are staff, equipment, desire, but the political discussions don’t allow us to start the work”;
– Dmytro Sherembey, “What is the priority? Life or comfort? This is a very simple choice”;
– JuanFuertes: “Europe conducted a lot of researches and learned that saved lives are an investment in state and in the economy”;
– Prist Andrii Login: “The Church is not only a positive in general, but actually encourages everyone to ask themselves questions about their end of life.”
