“You can help patients with pulmonary hypertension by collecting usual corks” – published on the website of Lviv city council
Announced in Lviv campaign “Cork for life” calls to help patients with pulmonary hypertension. The campaign is perpetual and consists in a mass gathering by residents of the city of plastic corks from bottles, yoghurt, pens, creams, medicines and transfering them to the of the recycling company. Funds raised for collecting corks would be transferred to account of CF of “Sister Delilah” for the purchase of essential medicines for patients with pulmonary hypertension.
Residents of the Lviv leave collected corks in schools, hospitals, district administration, supermarkets, cafes, where the special containers are placed. Every 2 months corks are brought together in collection point, namely, a boarding school number 2, at Prosvity st., 2.
“Cork for breath!” How to understand this? By collecting corks we can give breath and give a chance to live. We appeal to all citizens of Lviv to support this initiative, namely: “A Cork to a Cork Gather you and I – Together we shall save Lives!”. Gather corks from plastic bottles of yogurt, pens, set your own containers, tell friends about the event, take photos with the 5-liter bottle cork, place it on the page in Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/784523281618037/ and get a certificate to “Children’s Planet”. Remember, your caring will help save lives. Together we are stronger”, say the organizers.

Campaign “Cork for life” is a joint project of the Lviv City Center of Social Services for Families, Children and Youth and Lviv City Charitable Foundation of “Sister Delilah.” The aim is to help people suffering from pulmonary hypertension and purge the city from the most widespread today rubbish – plastic.
Pulmonary hypertension is a rare incurable disease. Because of the increased pressure in the pulmonary artery, the person can not breathe freely. Currently there are about forty people with this diagnosis in the Lviv region. Each of them needs from 40 to 120 thousand UAH per month for treatment, depending on the severity of the disease.
