The celebration of World PH Day in Ukraine, in Lviv began on May 3, 2015 with a warm meeting of patients with Pulmonary Hypertension in the office of LCCF of “Sister Dalila”. The patients were from Lviv region and Kyiv. So the following PH patients came ti Lviv: Victoriya Burbura, Christyna Makarchuk, Olena Pokotylo, Irynana Sydorchuk, Alina Didusenko, Victoriya Folys Svitlana Malanchak, Artem Matkovskyi, Julia Cavviy. They came together with members of their families for the sports event “Hodoton” . .. when the air is left aside” , dedicated to the World Day of Pulmonary Hypertension, which is celebrated on May 5, 2015. These are people whose health conditions enabled them to be present at the campaign.
       With a smile on their faces they got acquainted with each other, as they hadn`t seen each other in person but only were communicating in social networks.
        In all this the lively atmosphere there preparation for the sporting event was taking place. Everyone wore T-shirts with symbols of World Day of Pulmonary Hypertension.
At 11:30 everyone gathered near the monument to Taras Shevchenko, particularly, representatives of LCCF of “Sister Dalila”, patients with pulmonary hypertension, their families, representatives of Invasport “Lviv Regional Center of Physical Education and Sports for the Disabled,” Acting Director of Lviv City centre of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth- Oksana Rubai, representatives of the Union “Samopomich”, a representatives of Lviv City Council – Petro Goshovskiy, pupils of Children Youth School called “Galicia”, athletes in wheelchairs, athletes with impaired hearing and eyesight, representatives of children’s entertainment complex “Children’s Planet” volunteers from the business club “Ticket to Success”, journalists “TRK-Lviv», «ZIK», «24», TV channels.
At 12.00 o`clock Mr. Oleh, from the union “Samopomich” officially launched the sporting event “Hodoton” … when the air is left aside “, retelling about the rare (orphan) disease – Pulmonary Hypertension, which is celebrated on 05.05.2015 all over the world, emphasizing on the expensive treatment of patients with pulmonary hypertension, on the need for state support of these patients, their right to quality of life, uninterrupted and free treatment. Later the floor was given to the organizer of the sporting event, the president of LCCF of “Sister Dalila” – Oksana Kulish, who said: “Currently in Ukraine there are 23 people registered suffering from pulmonary hypertension, but it is not the final figure that does not include children and there are a lot of them. The monthly treatment is from 40000 to 120000. These are extremely high costs for patients. So we rely on the fact that deputies of the Regional Council will support the financing of the special program for the drugs for these people. “
       After that the participants walked from the monument to Taras Shevchenko to the Opera House and back to support patients with pulmonary hypertension. As all participants were walking they were accompanied and cheered by the applause of Lviv citizens and visitors.
Returning to the monument to Shevchenko all participants of sporting event followed the call to stopped breathing for a few seconds to feel yourself in the place of a patient with pulmonary hypertension. The participants of the sporting event released balloons into the blue sky – as a symbol that the disease can be released. We understand that this is not an easy task … So call on all to common actions.
       The meeting with our patients with pulmonary hypertension, their families has not finished as after Hodoton all went to a cozy café of healthy food – “Smakolyk.” Here a representative of LCCF of “Sister Dalila” – Halyna Dubrivska introduced the presentation on the year review the activity of LCCF of “Sister Dalila” and the patients with pulmonary hypertension had the opportunity to write about their “Breath of Success.”
       Victoriya Burbura, a PH patient had a pleasant surprise, she received a desired and viable portable nebulizer, and all the people – patients with pulmonary hypertension who attended the event received medications.
       After lunch, our Hodoton participants visited the St. Ann`s church. They had a chance to talk with sister Dalila, who lit a ray of hope and faith in their hearts which needed that so much.
The patients had a beautiful evening in the hotel “Volter”, during which patients shared their experience of their life with pulmonary hypertension. All this was accompanied by live music.
