Konopleva Lydiya Fedorivna is a doctor of medical sciences, a professor, a cardiologist  of a high сategory. The place of work – Bohomoltsya National Medical university of Kyiv, the professor of the department of Internal Medicine №2, (based on Aleksandrivska hospital in Kyiv).

I have graduated from the 1st Academician Pavlov Medical Institute of Leningrad. The main specialty is internal medicine. As a professor, I teach and give lectures to students, to senior undergraduates and to interns of “internal medicine”. The scope of my research activity is cardiology. My PhD thesis is devoted to the acquired heart defects. Most of the work is devoted to the study of one of the most difficult problems in cardiology -pulmonary hypertension. It became the subject of my doctoral thesis, which I defended in Moscow in 1986. At that time  our country has just begun to study this problem. Up till present this group of diseases is known to many people. There are more than 100 diseases with pulmonary hypertension according to the most conservative estimates. The largest group of patients are those who have the developed pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) with the defeat of the arteries, including small vessels. The most severe is the primary pulmonary hypertension, which is a separate disease among other diseathes. In other diseases, it is often the main symptom (in congenital heart disease, scleroderma, liver disease, HIV infection etc.). Currently  the new new methods of diagnosis and treatment of these diseases have been worked out. New effective drugs are being worked out  and are being put into practice. On the basis of N. D. Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology there has been established a Pulmonary hypertension centre In Kiev. Volunteers help us in our work. They have established the Association of Patients with pulmonary hypertension.  The charitable foundations have been established  to assist patients, for example, in Kyiv Julia Stryzhkina, in Lviv (Oksana Kulish). The establishment of other centres for the treatment of patients are going to be established in other cities in Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv, etc.). I am optimistic about the possibility of the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pulmonary hypertension in Ukraine. Among our patients there are those who live more than 20-25 years, while  in  80-90th  their life  was less than five years.

I wish success to all our patients and a long and a happy life.
